MIVA Cancels Remainder of 2020 Season

In light of the circumstances presented by the COVID-19 epidemic, MIVA will not operate any further events this season.  That means that all our events, including the 2020 MIVA D1 and D2 Championships, are cancelled and will not be rescheduled.

We know this is disappointing news, but we believe it is the right thing to do in light of the rapidly escalating concerns surrounding COVID-19.  We are especially regretful for the many graduating seniors who were no doubt looking forward to this year’s MIVA Championships.

We urge you to stay tuned to developing news from NCVF regarding their Kansas City national championship event.  In the coming days, NCVF will be directly updating clubs registered for the national championship tournament.

We urge everyone to do their part to stop the spread of this virus.  Some suggestions, as provided by the US Center for Disease Control, include:

Ways to Reduce the Risk of Illness
  • Clean frequently touched objects and surfaces
  • Avoid any unnecessary touching of the eyes, nose, and mouth
  • Cough or sneeze into the elbow and not on the hands
  • Get a flu vaccine
  • Minimize contact with sick people
  • Wash hands regularly and effectively with soap and warm water - especially after cough or sneeze
  • Carry alcohol-based hand sanitizer
  • Adopt strategies that facilitate quality sleep
  • Wash and peel fruit before eating
  • Do not share drinking bottles, cups, silverware, towels, etc. with other people

MIVA deeply regrets having to cancel its season because, among other things, clubs have had such tremendous participation and sportsmanship this year.  We wish all participants the very best and thank them for leadership and continued excellence.
